BAND REHEARSALS
It sure was great to have the band together again in our mini-camp. We are going to resume regular rehearsals beginning on September 1st. Rehearsals will occur Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30pm with symptom checks beginning at 5pm. Students who missed out at the mini-camp will have another chance to join by signing up through the medical authorization form. Registration needs to be completed by Thursday, August 27th. You do not need to complete the form if you were at mini-camp, but please let Mr. Hatcher know if you are not going to continue into the fall.
CLASS SCHEDULES
Everyone should have received your schedules last week. Here is what your daily schedule should look like for band:
- 2nd Period (Symphonic Band)-The title is confusing, but this session is designated for Concert Band PERCUSSION. No one else should be enrolled in this.
- 3rd Period (Concert Band)-This is 9th grade Concert Band. No 10th-12th graders should be enrolled in this
- 4th Period (Symphonic Band)-This is the normal Symphonic Band.
- 6th Period (Wind Ensemble)
Band results from the spring are available here: http://www.pnhsbands.com/2020/05/01/20-21-bands-and-leadership/
If you need to make schedule adjustments, please contact your counselor. Mr. Hatcher will be following up with them this week to make sure everyone has the correct schedule.
Also, tell Mr. Hatcher if you need to get the PE Exempt Form completed. (Juniors and Seniors, only)
SCHOOL (INSTRUMENTS AND SUPPLIES)
School begins remotely next week, this is a check to make sure you have everything you need for band classes.
PERCUSSION: To start the year you will need a DRUM PAD, STICKS,and a SNARE STAND. I do have some snare stands available for checkout. Here is what we suggest:
We set up a page through Lone Star Percussion to supply percussion students with the required materials they need. Students will earn free shipping and a t-shirt when they place an order with the code PLAINFIELDCSD2019
http://www.lonestarpercussion.com/Schools/Plainfield-North-High-School/
WOODWINDS/BRASS: You will need a working instrument with accessories(reeds, neckstraps, etc.) If you need a school instrument loaner, you will need to complete the form at the link. We will get instruments to you when we have them ready. The instruments available for checkout are bass clarinet, tenor sax, bari sax, french horn, euphonium, or tuba (You’ll be required to supply mouthpieces and reeds)
(Students must sign-in with their PSD202 account to submit form)
ALL STUDENTS: You should have a MUSIC STAND and an area where you can perform your instrument, comfortably. Music will be distributed through the computer for you to read it from a screen or print it off at home. A great accessory I highly suggest is a USB microphone. The computers distributed by the district tend to have latency issues with the built-in microphone. By upgrading your microphone, you’ll be able to sound better in your communication in all classes and your instrument will sound better when being recorded through the computer. You can get a decent one between $15 and $30 on Amazon. Again, just a suggestion through experience.
QUINLAN AND FABISH
Quinlan and Fabish, our district preferred music store, has their website operational and is shipping out stuff in a timely manner. If you need music supplies, visit www.qandf.com

Get some take out at Noodles & Co. on Monday, August 24th between 4 and 8pm. Our band program will get a portion of all purchases during that time. Just show the flyer.
