In accordance with the Phase 4 Return to Play guidelines established by the IHSA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee (SMAC), opportunities for activities to resume are now permitted by the IHSA and Illinois Department of Health. Safety for all involved will be our number one priority. Students and parents will be expected to know the information below along with the letter produced by PSD 202 for activities resuming. Please keep in mind, the status of band camp may change with any updates from the state or district level.
PARTICIPATION:
- Marching Band camp is VOLUNTARY.
- All participants involved are doing so of their own free will and understand the risks associated with participating in these activities in regard to injuries and of contracting infectious diseases.
- Students will need to sign-up if they wish to participate.
- This form is in addition to the original Commitment Form submitted in May located on the marching band page.
- The form is a confirmation of joining marching band on a voluntary basis and it in includes Medical Authorization information.
- The form has been extended to be due on July 31st. (Hard Deadline)

SCHEDULE:
- Camp will run from August 17th-21st from 5-8pm.
- Each student will rehearse for 2 hours during that time frame. Exact times for each student will be determined based on number of participants.
LOCATION
- All rehearsals will be located outside on the PNHS campus
- Primary locations will be the stadium and eastside (staff) parking lot
- No rehearsals will occur inside. If inclement weather is expected, rehearsal will be cancelled prior to students arriving on campus.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
- Complete a self-screener checklist prior to reporting to camp. If you have any symptoms, stay home.
- Always wear a face mask unless activity requires you to take it off.
- Maintain 6 feet from other people.
- Wash hands before and after participation.
- Instrument, equipment, accessories, and music will need to be brought to and from rehearsal. (No inside or locker access)
- Bring your own water bottle, towels, hand sanitizer, face covering and any personal equipment.
- Absolutely no sharing or touching of other student’s equipment.
- Sanitize your instrument at the conclusion of each rehearsal
- Report any symptoms to your director during practice
PARENT/GUARDIAN EXPECTATIONS
- Complete the self-screener checklist prior to reporting to camp. If you have any symptoms, stay home.
- Inform the school if their child has tested positive for COVID-19.
- Drop off their child in the designated area.
- Pick up their child in the designated area on time to avoid student athletes congregating.
GROUP PROCEDURES
- Students will be assigned a group based on their section.
- Every student must stay with the same group EVERY REHEARSAL.
- Groups will consist of no more than 50 individuals. This includes any instructors.
- Groups must stay a minimum of 30 FEET APART at all times. Groups may not mix.
- Individuals will stay a minimum of 6 feet apart.
- Locker rooms, restrooms and drinking fountains are NOT AVAILABLE. If there is an emergency, each group will be assigned to a certain restroom.
- Equipment will be cleaned after every session. (Specifically large percussion and stands)
TEMPERATURE CHECK PROCEDURES
- Directors have sheets ready with all names on it and questions to ask.
- Students and directors MUST BE WEARING MASKS WHEN TEMPERATURE is checked.
- If no mask, students will be sent home.
- Students/Parents drive through the drive by the music wing.
- Students stay in cars until temperature check done and symptom clearance.
- Directors will record each student as cleared, not cleared, or absent.
- If a student is cleared, they may proceed to the drop off or go to the parking area.
- If student does not clear, they pull up and wait for director to do another check 10 minutes later.
- If still not cleared, parents will be informed and student will need to leave rehearsal.
- Athletes who are cleared are instructed to go to a waiting area, physically distance themselves, and wait for a director.
- Directors and staff must also have temperature and symptoms checked daily.
STUDENT FAILS TEMPERATURE CHECK ( TWICE )
- Student will go to the isolation area if parents are not around.
- A school administrator will notified.
- Parent’s are notified immediately. Director will explain what happened and advise it is best to see a doctor.
- Students are not allowed to return until they have a doctor’s note.
POSITIVE TEST RESULT OF COVID-19
- Parents should notify directors and/or school administration, immediately.
- School administrators will be contacted and supply list that player was in with phone numbers.
- Administrator or directors will contact all other parents in the student’s designated group.
- That group will not be allowed to return (including staff) for at least 72 hours.
