Good evening, Tigers!
I hope you and your family are staying healthy! I would very much like to be at school with you over staying at home, but we all must do our part to help with the crisis. A very big thank you to our parents that are medical professionals and helping fight this everyday! My sister is a public health administrator who is going to work everyday and very much feeling the stress of low supplies and many patients. So again, thank you for what you do!
Here are a few notes regarding our band program for the time being:
MUSICAL
If we are lucky enough to be back at school on April 8th, we will hold our musical the week of April 13th with performances being on the 17th, 18th, and 19th to a modified audience.
MARCHING BAND INFORMATION MEETING
I’m going to post 2020 marching band information by the end of this week to the website with video tutorials. This will be for all current 8th-11th graders enrolled in band for next year. We will do a follow up meeting towards the beginning of May
2020 LEADERSHIP TEAM
I will also send out leadership information and applications by the end of the week. This is for everyone that would like to be a drum major, section leader, or guard captain. If we can, we’ll do drum major auditions in April. If not, we’ll move to a video audition. More details by April 7th. You will need to watch the drum major workshop this Thursday from 7-8pm. 8TH GRADE BAND AUDITIONS
To our incoming 8th graders, band auditions will move to a video format. The videos will need to be submitted by April 10th. I will send out a link for submission, soon. Auditions are OPTIONAL. Here are materials and information: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uCiZOiYCyjw6TeKM5wmdmopdQM0yN5Kk
E-LEARNING
For the time being, e-learning is optional, but I’ll be sending stuff out through the week via Smartmusic to help you keep growing your skills as a musician. It will not be graded, but please submit the stuff to me. If we are out for an extended time beyond April 7th, we start talking about putting together a virtual band. Again, here are some more music learning and performing resources for you to check out.

IN CLOSING:
There are many variables out in the world right now. I don’t know what the schedule will be for the rest of our school year. More guidance from the government will be out over the next two weeks then I can give you more information with our final concert and summer schedule. But for now, priority number one is stay healthy! Words of wisdom while we are all stuck at home: What is something you can do today that will make you a better person than you were yesterday?
